Oh Deer in My Yard

What is this deer doing in my yard? This little doe spent most of the day with me. After wandering around between the cars in the morning, she lazed under the shade of the apple trees for the rest of the day. Occasionally, she rose to nibble on the young raspberries before heading back to her comfortable spot.

What a pleasant way to spend a late spring afternoon.

Social Networking Throughout Your Career

Now available in paperback: “Social Networking Throughout Your Career: What’s All the Buzz About?”?

It seems everyone is talking about social networking tools these days. Newspaper stories and daily comics make light of our “tweets”. We have all heard about social networking and many of us are using these sites regularly. In fact, these tools have sparked a communication revolution by changing how we talk with each other and the speed in which information travels.

If you are a professional looking for a new job, considering a career change or even planning to be in the job market for more than one more year, it is important to understand how to leverage the most common social networking tools. If you are not effectively managing your online network you will appear out dated and behind the times to current employers or recruiters. Currently, 80% of all companies use LinkedIn as their primary recruiting tool. That means if you are not using LinkedIn effectively, other candidates will be hired for the job, which may be a perfect fit for you.

“Swim in the sea where hiring managers are fishing for you.”

New Years Eve 2009 Algonquin Illinois

The last sunset of 2009 and the clouds are clearing. I am hoping to glimpse the Blue Moon on this New Years Eve. As the sunset, I saw these icicles hanging off the eaves.

Happy New Years and here’s to even better things for 2010.

Thinking Spring in McHenry County

I am thinking Spring in McHery County.

As I looked back over pictures I posted on Twitpic.com, I thought why not bring spring forward a few months. There is well over a foot of snow on the ground. Check out previous posts for snow scenes. I am going to sit back and take time to smell the roses and enjoy these floral scenes including clematis and columbine.

Winter Driving in Chicagoland

Winter in Chicagoland and the weather is predictably unpredictable. Snow fell for most of the last three days leaving trees dusted with a white coating. Yards and streets are blanketed with a thick layer of snow.

Not bad driving today. Yesterday snow fell faster than plows could clear. Spun out cars and trucks lined the roads. We shoveled multiple times before the storm let up.

Here’s what it looks like today a day after the multiple day storm.

Winter Wonderland in Algonquin Illinois

Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow….

It will be a white Christmas here in Chicago. Snow storms are expected for the next few days so we will be shoveling away calories that we consume at the big meals. While the snow is beautiful to view from inside and even for a short stroll, it is not so fun for driving.

Enjoy this winter scene.

Squirrel at the Buffet

This squirrel loves coming by for meals. He can’t quite reach the bird feeder so he does tricks as he stretches for his food. He is earning his keep.

Enjoy watching him earn his meal through we prefer to watch the birds.
